Happy December!

As we head into this particularly busy time of year, there’s a good chance you are ready to simplify your life.
And guess what…? The good news is that you don’t have to wait until the new year to begin. You can start right now.
How?
By asking yourself one simple question: What would simplifying my life mean to me?
Take a moment and let the question sink in. Allow the answer to come from your heart, not your head. There are no “right” answers, here.
So? What would simplifying your life mean to you?
Whatever it is, it’s important to understand this point with regard to simplifying your life:
Simplifying is not a synonym for minimalism, or for decluttering.
In our society, the concepts of minimalism and decluttering sometimes come with so many rules they can stress us out! Then add in the ideas of “brand” and “aesthetic,” and it’s a miracle anyone can ever make a move without fear of getting it “wrong.”
So, simplifying means just that: making your life simpler.

That’s where we sometimes go astray. We think to simplify means we have to give up things.
Really, sometimes the opposite is true. Sometimes to simplify our lives, we need to add something—support, help, a community, or even an item that can help us to live an easier, fuller life.
Simplifying your life is different for every person, but it always comes down to one thing: how can this act of simplifying better serve you…?
For me, I realized that adding some things to my life, like asking for help with my insanely busy schedule, made a big difference.
Your life may not simplify overnight, but if you take a moment, breathe, let go of what no longer serves you, and ask yourself, honestly, “How can I simplify my life?” you’ll be on the right track. Your life may still be chaotic (like mine), but you’ll begin to see your way to a simpler, happier life.
So? What can be simplified in your life?
Where can you begin to let go? What do you need to better support you?
Whatever it is, honor it.
What a beautiful, simple way to start a new month. 🙂
