The Magic of the Season

During the holidays, we often wait for the “Spirit” of the season to come over us. Maybe it’s the Christmas Spirit we are waiting to feel, or other holiday warmth.

We call it the “Magic” of the holiday season.

We know the feeling because it comes from inside and radiates throughout our extremities. Maybe it hits us when we’re gazing at a candle on a dark night. We take a deep breath and the feeling of peace—mixed with a dose of adrenaline—washes over us. We can’t help but feel happy and good.

But sometimes, the magic of the season is fleeting. We just don’t feel in the “Holiday Spirit,” and we’re certain we can only find the spirit if we buy more, decorate more, and bake more.

The truth is, like the Grinch tells us, the spirit of the season doesn’t come from a store, and it doesn’t come from any activity we force ourselves to do.

The true spirit of the holidays comes from within.

It is that magic that is in you, always.

And the best part? We can feel that spirit always, and at all times.

How?

We find the magic by tapping into our peace and living in our dharma. We also find that magic by caring for others.

You don’t need to wait for the holidays to feel the spirit. You already have the magic within you. You–and your magic–have the power to change the world for the better.

If you should doubt the affect your one seemingly small gesture can do, consider looking up at a night sky.

You may see billions of stars and you may be in awe of them, but it is the one singular shooting star, like that one action, that is truly magical.

Any time you have been kind to a stranger, helped someone in need, given a coat to someone who is cold, and kept going even when you thought you couldn’t – you have created magic.

And that magic is the Spirit of the Season.

You are a magic maker.

Happy Holidays!
